Wow, that sounds so odd to me. I've lived in America all my life, and I'm so used to being able to drive for days on end in any direction, and still being in the same country! Although...I kind of hate that. It makes it so hard to go on vacation. I've been to England for a few days, and spent two days in Paris, and I've been to India, but nothing else in Europe, really. =P It must be so convenient to just be able to move around and see so many places so easily! I've always wanted to travel around Europe. :-)
Demons and Wizards - Demons and Wizards Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn of Events
I don't have individual tracks, as I'm listening to full albums.
Okay, don't laugh, but listening to Rammstein makes me want to learn German, just so I can understand the lyrics the way they're meant to be understood! XD

You know India's not Europe, right? Haha, but still, you've been to Europe. England's nice and I can honostly tell you I've never been to France, though I've driven by it loads of time! And that's why I compare it to be like going to another state for you. Summer holidays as a kid in Spain, was like a two or three day drive and that's the farthest away I've been in my live. Last November was the first time I've been on a plane Ah Rammstein is good! Though I'm more in to English rock. Find it amazing how big German is in America though. A lot of people like or study it, right? -or a lot, but for being that far away- German is a lot like Dutch  haha No more music here! Trying to go to bed!

Yeah, more people here speak it here than you would think. >shrug< taking Spanish may have been more helpful in the long run, of course (almost positive it's the second most spoken language in America). But German class is a lot of fun! >< Cept the dative case... -_-

I've always wanted to learn German. It's such a cool language!
I think Spanish might be the second most spoken language in America, and in some places, the most spoken period. I actually ended up taking three years of French. I understand it well enough to read news articles and stuff, at the level of an elementary school child. xD
But the thought of being able to read Grimm's Fairy Tales in German is just fascinating. I loved those stories as a child, though I've only read them in English.
Actually, I end up picking up a lot of words and stuff just by comparing the words in two different languages, so it would be awesome if I could get my hands on a German copy! xD

You know India's not Europe, right? Erk! Of course I know! xD It was just poor wording. =P (Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a writer, I should have caught that.) Lol, I meant that I've seen Paris, and London, but nowhere else in Europe. XD Yeah, German is a pretty common language that is offered for study in high school language classes. =P Rammstein is awesome! I am into a lot of English metal and rock too...although a lot of the death metal bands I listen to are actually from Europe, like the Holland/Norway/Sweden/Finland area XD

Yeah isn't Spanish like the second world language, after English? Though it's mostly spoken in America. Well Latin America of course, but in the States as well.
In Europe there is barely Spanish outside of Spain haha. In Holland they see German and French as 'big' languages. So we've been thought English since we're about 10/11 years old -er our schooling system is really different- and in first/second year of high school you'll get a bit French and German for a couple of years. And you'll have to chose one of them in which you'll graduate, besides English that is. If you're really into it, you'll stick with all three of them!
I'd really love to learn Spanish. Love the language! And I'll just like to learn a fourth/fifth -don't really think much of my two years of French- but since I want to study in Norway for a semester next year, it's more logical to go study Norwegian haha.
Quite curious for the Dutch bands you know all the way in America! ^_^
Oh and learning languages by comparing them is the best. I've learned a bit of Portuguese over the last two months due to a Brazillian song and singing it made me want to know what it was about. I developed quite some skills in English, just by watching, reading and talking a lot of it.

Yeah, there are a couple of Rammstein songs where I looked up the lyrics, and then I actually understood them, like the way they were written, and not just because I memorized the words in English. I really learn best that way. =)
It's not really curious...the thing is, it's just me. I just have what would be a niche taste in music here. The vast majority of Americans have never heard of the music I listen to. Well, for one, most people listen to pop music (Blecch!) rather than metal, and even if they listen to metal, it tends to be more Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Metallica, rather than (for us) relatively obscure melodic death metal/operatic metal bands.
(I, however, am bouncing in my seat waiting for Epica's new album to be released! XD)
Yeah, schooling here is very different. There isn't such an emphasis on learning different languages. Most people only speak English, or at most, Spanish. Those who are multilingual either come from a different country, or love languages so much that they went ahead and learnt new ones. The silly bit is that if you do want kids to learn new languages, you have to start them at a young age. However, over here, they only start you when you're already 15 or so. Even then, in most high schools, it's optional beyond the first level or so. xD

I must admit I'm into popular music, but I alos like discovering new/unknown artist, but I simply don't have any more time left to discover them. It's more easiness to listnen to pop *shame* And I guess learning a language isn't that important for people with English as there first language you know. Everywhere you go, people speak English. Being Dutch is different. There are about 23 million people for who it's there first language -yes we've got like 16/17 million people living in Holland-, and half of Belgium has Dutch as their first language. But other than that, barely no one speaks Dutch. So logically English is important, because everyon speaks it -that's why they start teaching it that young as well- and the total east of our country is bordered to Germany and the South to French-speaking Belgium and Dutch-speaking Belgium to France. So that's why they teach German and French as well. With an hour drive we get to speak those languages -'cause both Germand an French people really give a rat's ass about speaking Dutch hihi (okay, us Dutch people are known to be willing about learning different langauges haha) Okay, but my point being; with English as your mothertonque there is less necessity in speaking other languages and you're not as close to other languages But seeing you follow my Dutch twitter account as well, I'm quite curious if you get (little?) parts of it. Dutch is actually listed as a 'West Germanic language' haha. It's sort of a degenerated version of it mixed with some English influence -And there is officialy no more listening to music here haha, should I feel bad about ruining this thread as a moderator?-

Oh, did I follow it? Maybe I did. xD I am still learning my way around Twitter. No, I don't understand a word of Dutch! =P There are random German words that sound like English, but while I know Dutch is similar to German, I don't know either language. =P I would love to learn German, though.
Yeah, I totally understand that. Anyway, I have no problem with other people listening to pop...it's just not my cup of tea! =)
Yeah, I can sort of see how that works...English is a good language to know. It's good to learn new languages, though...it actually broadens your mind, and teaches you how others think. I find the way German arranges words to be fascinating. (Did I say that already?)
Actually, English isn't my mother tongue...XD Born in India! I'm fluent, though, because I basically grew up in America my whole life, and I came here when I was young enough to learn it as a first language. :-P
...back to music now! See Me In Shadow - Delain The Gathering - Delain
[EDIT:] DERP. FACEPALM. It was Delain, not Within Temptation! How could I possibly have mixed it up? It's my own music library, after all! Siiiigh.
Those have basically been on repeat for about an hour. Now I know what the title of one of my newest bunnies, Acid Trip, is going to be!
Yes, the bunny's name is Acid Trip. XD The reason for that is that it was born out of a variety of weird dreams I had (NOT because of an acid trip...my muse really is that weird), which give the thing kind of a surreal, otherworldly feel. The story is Science Fantasy, and it's going to involve Fae in Space and dragon-shaped spaceships that might just breathe fire.

*nudges thread back in the general direction of music*
I actually know one Dutch sort-of-metal band - Ayreon. I looked them up because the list of guest musicians includes:
Andi Deris Devin Townsend Fabio Lione James LaBrie Jorn Lande
*swoons over the unbelievable metal hotness*
If I could add Mikael Stanne and Ville Laihiala and somehow turn it into a concert that would be 'dies' instead of 'swoons'. Of course, then I'd need some musicians to make an awesome band to go with them. John Petrucci and Devin Townsend on guitars, Vadim Pruzhanov on keyboards, Daniel Löble on drums...
Now, where am I going to find an awesome bass player? Helloween again - Markus Grosskopf.
*** In the time I've been imagining ultimate metal bands, I've listened to:
1000 years away - Andi Deris straight through the heart - Jorn Lande (yes, I know it was originally Dio) a better way to die - Black Majesty

That one's just German though: I've never heard it in English. I'll ask my teacher for the link to a site where you can read the German stories right next to the English translation. I should probably email him now... Anyway, not listening to anything at the moment. Mom wants me to help her clean today, so I'm not writing yet... ><

Siana, that list is almost too awesome to exist! There is too much awesome metal epicness in one place! Eeeee! *spontaneously combusts due to overload on metal hottness*
I haven't listened to Ayreon, though. I should.
Siiiigh. ^^ (Dies again of happiness.)
Mo -- Aaaah, Saturday morning chores! ^^ Got some yard work to do myself, so I can't plot or write right no. O(
Next on my list - Ayreon.

Mom's trying to burn a Rihanna CD, so that's what I've got playing.
I woke up this morning singing "Ghost of Me" by DAUGHTRY, though, which was strange. One: I stole my latest chapter title from the lyrics (Vision in Her Sleep), and I had a strange dream that kinda connected with that... ><
Anyway, I'm off the hook with chores for now, so hopefully I can make some progress now!

Hihi Schneewitchen (Sneeuwwitje), Aschenputtel (Assepoester), Hansel und Gretal (Hansje en Grietje), Rumplestiltskin (Repelsteeltje) ^_^ Read them all as a kid (in Dutch though). Dornröschen (Doornroosje) and Rotkäpchen (Roodkapje) are quite known as well! Wait, Rotkäpchen is known in America to right, Red riding hood? I can look around if I can find a German copy for you, Agent. Must be able to arrange something and ship it to you somehow. Never heard of Ayreon to be honest, so didn't know they were Dutch either But had to laugh when you mentioned Within Temptation. I actually went to high school with a cousin of former gitarist and founder of the band -just found out he quit the band last year-. But it was in the time they just had their first single out in Holland. Well listening to Ice Queen by Within Temptation now. High school memories hahaha
