I feel like I should be making this place look alive by posting but I'm too
a) confused about what I'm doing in March b) lazy c) or something
to be able to think of what to use as an intro for a PPT, though, so I'm starting random chatter thread.
To start it with something completely random - because my brothers have cooler gadgets than me, I've ended up with a secondhand iPhone 3 to replace my zombie-like previous phone. It was a Motorola v3x. They have buttons. The iPhone is just a screen with one button that I'm not even totally sure is a button. How does one actually use this arcane device?
I feel like such a dinosaur asking that.

Ha ha, it's okay! If you're used to buttons, the iPhone is confusing.
Well, I have a 4S and I love that thing, but then I'm a weirdo who refuses to buy clothes more than once a year, but who goes apesh!t over smart phones and drools like a gorilla over electronics. XD
To open an app, tap it. To return to the home screen, tap the home button (that's what the one button is called). There should be a button or a slider on top to lock it. When the phone is sleeping (screen is off), press the home button to wake it up. Slide the slider to unlock the phone.
Let me know if you have any more questions. :-)
Do you know what version of iOS you're running?
Well, I'm haunting the place, so I'm posting all over the boards, trying to make it look like there are people here. XD You could always just give your PPT a generic name like you have on AoE, and then change the subject of the OP later, which will change the name of the thread.

I'm semi-joking about the phone, although it's taken me a while to figure out how to make a call (which is why I hate smartphones) and I have yet to attempt the adding and deleting of contacts. I'm not even going to look at voice control. Ever. Still, it beats my android tablet, which totally failed at being a phone and is now relegated to e-reader and alarm clock. It is nice to have an e-reader, at least. More books . As for the PPT, it will happen. I've finished everything for FebNo now, so when my brain settles down again I'll go into project management mode and sort out March.

Oh. Sorry. XD I...am horrible at picking up sarcasm or jokes from text communication. =P
Well, for iOS, there's iBooks, but there's also a Nook app and a Kindle app, so you can basically access any form of ebook from there. I changed the color scheme on my Kindle app to Sepia, and when you dim the screen, it's actually super comfortable to read. Oh wait, you were talking about your tablet, not your phone...never mind. XD
Right there with you with voice control. It's far harder to set it up and pronounce things right than it is to just tap a few times.
Yeah, I have to rip my plot apart, separate it into scenes, and see how much I really have. My Scrivener project is so disorganized! Boooring, though, but this is where stuff always fell apart, because this is where I gave up. Not giving up this time!

I'm making my March spreadsheet right now . If I hadn't offered to let people hit me for it, I'd be setting up LSB projects and doing an epic copy-paste marathon instead. Yeah, that sounds like way more fun. *dies* Today I also wrote a blog post on Writer's Block for the WriYe blogging circle, read some of Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie and spent an insane amount of time pretending I was going to post on various writing forums. I'm taking a procrastination break while I try not to think about how to make a spreadsheet for logging NaNoPlotMo. I'm thinking about writing a short story just to get out of doing tedious administrative tasks.

Damn straight. :-) Stay away from LSB! Epic copy-paste marathons are a false indicator of productivity! You feel like you're making progress, but at the end, you just have the same stuff you had before, and you're too tired to add any more! XD
Death on the Nile. Good book! XD Don't worry, no spoilers. (...mental image of River Song winking and saying 'Spoilers!'...man, she's so annoying...)
Yeah, I wish I knew how to log NaNoPlotMo...I know a couple of people went on the site, and were disappointed that right now it's just Plot Doctoring, and there weren't any actual guidelines. =P Trouble is, both of us admins are pantsers who don't know how to plot! I can't even make myself a template until I've experimented with stuff. On top of that, there are so many styles of writing, that it's hard to make a template for everyone. Looks like this first month will be experimental. :-) I'm trying Snowflake myself, and I'm (ostensibly) creating a document to paste into Scrivener or wherever, with slots for everything. Don't know how well it will work out, never used Snowflake before. =P (Really, I'm just haunting all my forums, procrastinating by writing posts! So...the exact opposite of what you're doing! XD)

COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC: March has 31 days. Does that mean 1,613 words per day instead of 1,666?? Whoa. Whoooaaa.

If you're writing 50k, yes . I've been doing this long enough that I'm starting to know the numbers by heart. 31 day months are 1613. 30 day months are 1,667. February is usually 1786, but this year it was 1725. Changing the subject, I did start a story... but something tells me it ain't precisely the beginning of something short. Everything I touch wants to be a novel. I have no idea if that's good or bad.

Hrr... My shorts usually come out at like 2k, so they're stuck awkwardly in the middle... I just have too much to fit in a few minutes of reading. But I suck with plots.
My MarNo came from a short story idea, though. Sort of. I took a new idea for a short and went 'what if I put it in this really old, abandoned idea of a story?' And it snowballed from there... ^^

My short stories are always really short...like, less than 500 words short. Anything longer, and it wants to be a novel. =P
The worst part is that anything that wants to be a novel also starts demanding to be a trilogy once I get about 50k into it. =/ Even Höllebergen bunny has started slowly hinting that it'd like to be more than a single book.
To Nostradamus (I named the bunny Nostradamus): You say you want to be a trilogy, but I really don't have enough material to make you a trilogy. I have enough trilogies on my hands. Being a standalone book is not a bad thing. Look on the bright side: you'll be done in a far shorter time than all the others!

... setting up LSB projects and doing an epic copy-paste marathon... As it turns out, I can't face it. There is simply no way to get a 180k WIP into LSB without dying. So, I installed the Scrivener trial and now I'm sitting around wondering if I've got the enthusiasm to start setting myself up in that instead.

My shorter shorts are right around 500-600 words. My awkward shorts are like 2500-3500 (roughly).
But I have the same trilogy problem!! I can plan the first book out really well, and then an idea for a second comes around, and then the third never shows its face. Not that I've ever even finished the first, but...
I have a snow day today. So I'll hopefully get extra time to work on TWB! (Started early. Don't care. March is going to be crazy and I can use all the help I can get.)

Yay, random chatter thread ^_^
I've got the trilogy/not ending problem as well. I've got one huge project that is suposed to end as an trilogy. I've gotten quite far with the second book of that, though the first book isn't completely finished yet. Got another plot lying around that is suposed to contain 4 or even 5 books. And I've got loads of other plots lying around, but ending a story is always hard for me.
Oh, I'm jealous of your snow, lionhuntermo! Exactly the thing that could chear me up, really had an off day today. Wanted to win FebNoWriMo spectaculair after falling behind, but I barely wrote a thing today... Damn it

You can just call me Mo, if you'd like. ^^
>< Sorry to hear FebNo... But there wasn't any snow until about 2pm. Our first snow day of the year, though (I think the school just felt bad for us).
Hehe... Just convinced my friend to do MarNo with me.

Okay, I kind of suck at names though, but I see it's the last two letters of your username. I'll try to remember! ^_^ We've had a bit of snow in February, first of this winter as well. Though it was only 5 to 7 centimeter, not that much Where is Balgain by the way? School feeling bad for you sounds nice! I still had to go to school when there was snow, eventhough train traffic was terrible -and yes it was only a couple of centimeters haha= And yay for friends joining MarNo!
